Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is a captivating background to the Cambodia casinos that lie just across the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, in which casino betting is not allowed. Eight gambling dens are situated in a generally small location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent area, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest betting locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The astonishing capital accrued from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few restrictions requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; although, funding sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and though visas are allegedly necessary to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is correct of many border crossings.

The first Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary barge gambling den, contains 150 one armed bandits and sixty table games. The Naga gambling hall is open all hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of twenty-one, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly opened. A total of one hundred and fifty slots and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slots and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slot machines and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and ninety six table games, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and sixty six of the normal gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight casinos in Poipet, also a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-inclusive resort and hotel complex that features many conveniences on top of the casino, which houses ten thousand square feet of 130 slot machine games and eighty eight table games.
